This from Ian Carling – Club Captain
Captains Charities 2022 – Karen and I wanted to give a big thank you to all the members who gave so generously throughout the year to the Captains Charities.
We raised £3873.11 which was split between DonMentia and Doncaster Housing for Young People.
Pictured receiving their cheques are Stuart Shore, the Chief executive officer for DHYP and Eileen Harrington, the founder and driving force behind DonMentia
DonMentia are a local charity which aims to provide support for not only those suffering with dementia but also to support the carers of those with dementia. All funds raised for this charity go to support local people. The charity provides trips, outings, and events, such as garden parties, a day out at the seaside, or an evening at the Cast Theatre. These events improve the lives and experiences of those living with dementia. The Charity also helps to provide respite breaks, which help improve the physical and mental wellbeing of carers.
DHYP are another local charity helping and supporting young Doncaster people between 16-25 with issues such as Mental Health, confidence issues, and supporting them into the workplace, with additional support such as housing and accommodation advice. Last year they helped 361 young people, many into their first jobs and accommodation, and provided ongoing support.
Thank you to all the members and sections who gave so generously, and my special thanks to Karen and her Ladies, who did so much to raise the money.
Ian and Karen
